Pradalex Injectable (pradofloxacin) from Elanco is a convenient, one-shot, low-volume antibiotic for cattle and swine which has a 2-day withdrawal period and features a unique molecular structure and a mode of action which simultaneously blocks two enzymes responsible for bacterial replication within the bacteria nucleus.
This antibiotic treatment achieves peak serum activity within 45 minutes following injection. Pradalex Injectable treats BRD associated with Mannheimia haemolytica, Pasteurella multocida, Histophilus somni, and Mycoplasma bovis in cattle intended for slaughter (beef calves 2 months of age and older, growing beef steers, growing beef heifers, and beef bulls intended for slaughter), and in cattle intended for breeding less than 1 year of age (replacement beef and dairy heifers less than 1 year of age, and beef and dairy bulls less than 1 year of age). Pradalex Injectable is also for the treatment of swine respiratory disease (SRD) associated with Bordetella bronchiseptica, Glaesserella (Haemophilus) parasuis, Pasteurella multocida, Streptococcus suis, and Mycoplasma hyopneumoniae (M. hyo) in weaned swine intended for slaughter (nursery, growing, and finishing swine, boars, barrows, and gilts intended for slaughter, and sows intended for slaughter).
Directions: for cattle, administer once as a subcutaneous injection at a dosage of 2.3 ml per 100 lbs. body weight; for swine, administer once as an intramuscular injection in the neck at a dosage of 1.7 ml per 100 lbs. body weight.
